Westcliff Hardcourt Tennis Club
OUR TENNIS COURTS
We have 7 full-sized tennis courts comprising of two surfaces:
We have 3 plexi-cushion courts, a rubberised surface identical to those used in the US and Australian Open. Over 70% of professional tour tournaments are played on plexi-cushion. We are the only club in the area who have this type of court. Plexi-cushion can be installed in a range of different speeds. Ours are medium-to-quick paced with a medium bounce. Plexi-cushion courts are much preferred by stronger players and all our high grade matches are played on this surface.
We also have 4 artificial grass courts. These are a plastic bladed surface, laid on a perforated tarmac base, and filled with sand. They are fast-medium in pace with a medium to low bounce, depending on climate conditions. Artificial grass courts are an all-weather surface with good drainage. Artificial grass courts are very popular with club players because of they are kind on the joints and feel soft underfoot.
MINI TENNIS COURTS
We have 2 purpose-built mini tennis courts surfaced with artificial grass. The courts have perimeter fencing and parents can pull up a seat and spectate from just outside the court area. The courts are also visible from the bar area.
The mini courts form the foundation of our junior programme and are where generations of players have been made.
FLOOLIGHTS
All our courts have floodlights and members can play until 10pm in the evening.
PAVILION
The club has a pavilion comprising a function room (used for meetings, dances and other social functions, table tennis), a separate bar, a kitchen and two changing rooms (with h&c showers).
CAR PARK
The club has its own car park.
GROUNDS
The club has attractive grass lawns with trees and hedges, allowing off-court relaxation and providing room for the kids to play.
